Guiding Principles

Multi-sectoral: We respect diverse community voices and welcome participation from Shuswap residents, representatives from the non-profit sector, health, education as well as the business community and all levels of government: First Nations, Federal, Provincial,Regional and Municipal.

Comprehensive: We recognize that communities are complex and dynamic, and require comprehensive and adaptive approaches to planning and implementing positive change.

Innovative: We promote preventative upstream approaches to addressing human development issues.

Goals for Action

Provide leadership in the area of regional social planning, including the design and implementation of regional social development strategies.

Conduct community-based research projects that provide evidence of community needs and identify community assets in the areas of: housing, health care, education, food security,transportation, social services, accessibility, and other supports and services that enrich the lives of children, youth, adults, families and seniors.

Create communications strategies for raising public awareness about community issues and pathways for collaborative action.

Advocate for equitable and accessible community services and opportunities for mutually reinforcing community development.

Facilitate information sharing across diverse organizations, mutual learning and coordination of community services.

Build capacity for cross-sector regional dialogue, partnership development and collaborative action on regional issues.
